Dean Pedro A. Noguera joins education leaders in a call for action to reduce gun violence
Noguera calls for immediate government action to initiate scientifically-informed steps to reduce gun violence.

Pedro A. Noguera, the Emery Stoops and Joyce King Stoops Dean of USC Rossier, and an interdisciplinary group of scholars, who have studied school safety and violence prevention, call for immediate government action to initiate scientifically-informed steps to reduce gun violence and release an 8-point violence prevention plan.
Dean Noguera stated, “Scientifically, we know what to do to reduce gun violence. The question is whether our leaders will do it.”
The plan signed by education leaders from 15 higher education institutions also offered resources for educators school leaders and parents to support the families and staff they serve.
Building on data from a project led by USC Rossier professor Brendesha Tynes, Naila Smith is the lead author of a new research paper that examines how online spaces created by Black and Latinx youth benefit their ethnic-racial identity development.
