The 2022 American Educational Research Association (AERA) is heading to San Diego along with over five-dozen USC Rossier scholars who have prepared papers and presentations for the nation’s largest gathering of education researchers.
From April 21 to 26, the conference’s theme this year is “Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century,” which looks to understand and redress educational inequalities as well as build systems that embrace equity and justice.
USC Rossier presentation highlights—from faculty and graduate students—include the effect of the pandemic and what was learned as it applies to K–12 and higher education. In addition, USC Rossier scholars explore many of the challenges and, in some cases, learning opportunities the pandemic offered.
The conference also celebrates the Class of 2022 AERA Fellows, which includes USC Rossier’s Brendesha Tynes, the dean’s professor of educational equity. Additional USC Rossier faculty to be recognized at the conference awards ceremony includes:
- Royel M. Johnson, associate professor of higher education, who was awarded both the 2022 Dr. Carlos J. Vallejo Memorial Award for Emerging Scholarship and 2022 Division G Early Career Award, and
- Adam Kho, assistant professor of education, who was awarded the AERA Outstanding Reviewer for 2021 for Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis
