Bio

Reina Kang is a PhD student in Educational Psychology at USC, where she studies how digital environments shape the safety and wellbeing of young people. She is mentored by Dr. Brendesha Tynes and serves as a research assistant and project manager at the Center for Empowered Learning and Development with Technology.

Before coming to USC, Reina taught kindergarten in a dual-language school in Oakland and designed learning experiences for e-sports programs, two worlds that together convinced her that the platforms shaping young people's lives need to be held to a much higher standard. She holds a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley, a multiple-subject teaching credential from Loyola Marymount, and an M.S. in Education Studies from Johns Hopkins.
