The School Business Management Certificate is a hybrid program with study being 85% online and 15% in-person. DUE TO COVID-19 AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT ORDERS, THE BOOT CAMP COMPONENT OF THE PROGRAM WILL BE HELD ONLINE.

Due to the COVID-19 and Department of Health orders, the 2020-21 program will begin with an online Boot Camp experience held over two weekend sessions, which will begin Friday, July 24, 2020 (full day) and Saturday, July 25, 2020 (half-day). You will have a week in between to complete assignments/work designed by the program faculty. You will meet online again on Friday, July 31, 2020 (full day) and Saturday, August 1st, 2020 (half-day).

You will also meet online with the faculty the week of July 13th to prepare you for the work during the weekend sessions.

In mid-January (dates TBD), the class will reconvene in Sacramento to attend the Governor’s Budget Workshop sponsored by School Services of California, Inc. The session will also focus on getting ready for the Capstone Project, which is the summative assessment activity of the program. The mid-year meeting is an integral part of the program, it is currently scheduled to take place in a face-to-face setting. Please note that this meeting *may* take place online due to COVID-19. More information will be provided once we learn more about in-person and large group meetings.

The program concludes June 17-19, 2021 with the Leadership Capstone Session. Location for this session TBD. This is where you will give your final project presentation as well as receive personal coaching on your resume preparation and your interviewing skills. A ceremony celebrating the culmination of the program is held and families are invited to attend. Capstone is also scheduled in a face-to-face setting, but may change due to COVID-19.

Online Schedule

You will work in online learning environments that support both live and self-paced learning. You should plan to spend approximately 8-10 hours per week during the weeks that connect your in-person sessions. Your live sessions are held most Mondays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Your group and individual assignments have deadlines that can be completed at your pace.
