EducationNext features online MAT program in “Disrupting Teacher Education”

USC Rossier’s online MAT program is featured in an EducationNext article by Meredith Liu titled, “Disrupting Teacher Education.” Liu notes that as budget pressures have decreased government subsidies for tuition and grants, education schools need to find new, cost-effective ways to deliver high-quality programs. She features USC Rossier’s online MAT program as an example of an innovative program that uses technology to enhance the educational experience:

Like other disruptive innovations, the major benefit of the program is greater convenience of consumption, both in terms of geography and time. Despite the university’s efforts to replicate the traditional program online, MAT@USC students do lose some of the learning benefits of an in-person, in-classroom experience. At the same time, the MAT@USC has worked to make innovative use of technology, which enhances the online program relative to its traditional counterpart.
