Bio
Dr. Tr'Vel T. Lyons is an adjunct assistant professor and associate researcher at the University of Southern California Rossier
School of Education, where he contributes to the Center for Education, Identity, and Social Justice.
A first-generation education scholar, Dr. Lyons holds a Ph.D. in Urban Schooling from UCLA,
where his dissertation, "Cacti in the Classroom," explored the cultivation of supportive learning
environments for Black boys in their formative ninth-grade year.
Dr. Lyons' research specializations include diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in academic
programs. He is committed to examining barriers to equitable access to higher education and
designing interventions that promote inclusivity and equal opportunities for historically
underrepresented groups.
