Bio
Dr. Roman (He/Him/El) is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Education at the Rossier School of Education and has been a member of the Rossier family since 2021. He received his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Dr. Roman has been a practicing clinician since 2008 in various capacities and clinical settings. His clinical background consists of working with adolescents, adults, older adults, people of color, the LGBTQ+ population, monolingual Spanish-speaking individuals, substance and addiction disorders, and the severely mentally ill within community-based mental health and private practice settings. Dr. Roman was previously a member of the USC Counseling and Mental Health Department at Engemann Student Health before joining Rossier. Dr. Roman also has a private practice in Long Beach, CA where his primary focus is providing mental health services to marginalized and underserved communities.
Dr. Roman's clinical interests and areas of expertise consist of cultural and family expectations of Latino/Latina/Latinx communities, first-generation college students, understanding and integrating countertransference experiences into treatment, and psychotic disorders.
Dr. Roman is a first-generation college graduate and the first in his family with a doctorate degree.
