Bio
Rudolph (Rudy) Crew is a nationally-acclaimed educator whose career has spanned from the classroom to the chancellorship of the nation's largest school district, New York City Public Schools. His guiding principle has always been to provide the means by which all students can achieve high standards, and he has made it his mission to overhaul and strengthen America’s educational system. Crew’s publication, Only Connect: The Way to Save Our Schools, has influenced public discourse about the future of education.
As chancellor of New York City Public Schools, Dr. Crew led a number of reforms, including adoption of curriculum standards for all schools, elimination of tenure for principals, and the introduction of school-based budgeting. The Chancellor’s District, as well as the School Improvement Zone in Miami, has often been cited as a leading school reform model.
