Core Service Areas

Research & Evaluation

Research & Evaluation includes applied STEM education research, program evaluation of STEM initiatives, curricula, frameworks, and grant-funded programs, and STEM data analysis paired with instructional improvement planning. The Center also conducts system-level evaluation to support the development of coordinated STEM ecosystems across K–12, postsecondary, and workforce partners and to build institutional capacity for continuous improvement and long-term sustainability.

Design & Innovation

Design & Innovation includes the development of STEM instructional models, tools, and systems that translate research into practice. This includes curriculum and assessment design and the co-design of scalable, technology-enabled learning experiences aligned with instructional and system-level goals.

STEM Teaching & Learning

STEM Teaching & Learning includes professional learning and leadership development for teachers, instructional coaches, and school leaders, as well as the development of STEM education-to-career pathways aligned with workforce needs, strengthening educator and system capacity for high-quality STEM instruction. This includes support for STEM and STEAM certification processes (e.g., LAUSD designation) to align instructional practice with system-level standards.

Partnership Development

Partnership Development focuses on building cross-sector collaborations across USC, K–12 systems, industry, and community organizations to advance STEM learning and support coordinated implementation across systems.
