In this program, you’ll learn to design accessible, engaging learning experiences that help people grow and organizations succeed — across any professional setting. Continue working full time while taking fully online courses.
Whether you work in PK–12 education, higher ed, the military or nonprofit or corporate environments, you’ll gain the skills to advance understanding and improve outcomes.
Developed by expert faculty, the Learning Design with AI and Emerging Technologies (LDAI online) curriculum goes beyond technical know-how to offer a deep, practical understanding of how people learn — and how to design instruction that makes a lasting impact.
Through this program, you will:
- Earn a master’s degree from a school with a strong reputation among employers.
- Learn to apply current research in learning and motivation.
- Gain the skills to leverage AI tools and emerging technologies in curriculum design and learning assessment.
- Prepare to design, implement and evaluate learning experiences in face-to-face, online and blended learning environments.
The online learning experience blends interaction with student colleagues and faculty during live class sessions and self-paced coursework assignments submitted through the learning management system. Faculty facilitate live class sessions that include interactive, engaging and collaborative small-group discussions.

As an applicant, you will be automatically considered for limited, merit-based scholarships ranging from to $15,000 to $20,000. There is no need to submit a separate application for these scholarships. The admission committee selects recipients based on academic achievement, demonstrated dedication to the USC Rossier mission and other distinguishing characteristics. Priority consideration is given to those who apply by the Rossier Scholarship Deadline. All USC Rossier scholarships are awarded at the time of admission.

What You’ll Learn
The Learning Design with AI online program curriculum is designed by the program’s practitioner-scholar faculty with input from an advisory board of industry-leading professionals.
Rather than focusing solely on the acquisition of technical skills, the program emphasizes a holistic understanding of instructional design. As the capstone project, you will design a learning experience for a real-world application that demonstrates the application of theories and concepts.
