Principles of Learning and Motivation
EDUC 503 | 3 units

Design and advancement of learning and motivation outcomes in various environments through a systematic examination and application of current research.

AI and Learning Technologies A
EDUC 565a | 3 units

Explore current and emerging generative AI and other educational technologies to enhance learning and instructional design.

Data-Informed Design
EDUC 597 | 2 units

Explore research design, data collection, assessment and evaluation methods.

Spring Semester

AI and Learning Technologies B
EDUC 565B | 3 units

Design AI-enhanced, multimedia-rich learning experiences.

Inclusive and Accessible Instructional Design
EDUC 591 | 3 units

Appraises practices that maintain power; creates strategies to empower individuals and marginalized groups by intervening to achieve equitable outcomes in education, professions and communities.

Summer Semester

Foundations of Assessment and Evaluation
EDUC 600 | 2 units

Design a mixed methods assessment and evaluation plan. Create data collection instruments.

Implementing Principles of Instructional Design
EDUC 595 | 3 units

Formulation and design of effective instruction; emphasis on analysis of media characteristics and instrumentation requirements.

Year 2


Fall Semester

Lifespan Development
EDUC 589 | 3 units

Fundamentals of human physical, motor, mental, social, and emotional development, spanning the prenatal period through late adulthood.

Master’s Studio A
EDUC 587 | 3 units

Students propose and design a capstone project that applies knowledge and skills learned throughout the program and prepare a coursework portfolio.

Spring Semester

Data Presentation
EDUC 621 | 2 Units

Analyze and present data using visualizations and other formats. Apply data insights to support decision-making.

Master’s Studio B
EDUC 588 | 3 units

Students implement the capstone project and submit a portfolio that integrates program coursework.

Scholarship funding is limited. All applicants are reviewed for merit-based scholarship consideration as part of the admissions process—no separate scholarship application is required. While admission to the program does not guarantee a scholarship, applying earlier may increase your opportunity for scholarship consideration. For the Learning Design with AI and Emerging Technologies program, merit-based scholarships range from $15,000 to $20,000. Eligible applicants are awarded based on academic achievement, alignment with the USC Rossier mission, and other selection criteria. Scholarship recipients are notified at the time of admission.
