Secondary and postsecondary education outcomes for minoritized students

As a K-12 practitioner and political scientist, I am interested in the intersection of theory and practice as it relates to improving postsecondary education access and success for minoritized students.  Drawing on my decade of experience as a classroom educator and school leader, my research interests focus on issues of equity in the P-16 educational pipeline, and the roles macro-level (state reforms) and micro-level (classroom practices) policies play in shaping student success outcomes.  I frequently employ mixed methods in my work, and specialize in econometric and historiographical approaches to analysis.  I hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with minors in Biological Sciences and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the University of Chicago, as well as a Master’s degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio and am a graduate of the Urban School Leaders Collaborative at UTSA.
