USC Rossier Professional Learning expands educator support with new math authorization program and leadership pathways

From math instruction to district leadership, USC Rossier launches new pathways for educators at every stage.

USC Rossier Professional Learning is rolling out a new slate of programs this year aimed at strengthening math instruction and building the next generation of school leaders across California. The lineup includes a newly launched online math authorization for teachers and several leadership pathways, from one-on-one coaching to multi-year credentialing programs for aspiring administrators.

Mathematics Instructional Added Authorization (MIAA)

The Mathematics Instructional Added Authorization (MIAA) program, a 100% online offering approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, is designed for PK–Pre-Algebra teachers with at least three years of experience. The program aligns with the California Mathematics Framework to deepen both content knowledge and instructional pedagogy, and is built for teachers ready to expand their impact. The program also carries an official CTC credential authorization with nationwide reciprocity through NASDTEC, and participants earn 17 continuing education units. USC Rossier is accepting applications for two upcoming cohorts: a Spring cohort beginning in January 2027, with limited spots remaining, and a Fall 2027 cohort. To register or for more information, please contact Paloma Saenz.

New Leadership Development Offerings

In addition to the math authorization program, USC Rossier Professional Learning is introducing several new pathways for school and district leaders.

Coaching for Instructional Leaders is a new one-on-one coaching program that supports assistant principals, principals, directors, assistant superintendents and superintendents in building leadership capacity. Virtual sessions grounded in trust and collaboration, leaders get personalized support tailored to their evolving instructional leadership demands. To register or for more information, please contact Delia Racines.

Advanced School Leadership Academy is a two-year, fully online program that offers PK–12 administrators a practice-based path to California’s Clear Administrative Services Credential. Candidates are paired with an experienced educational leader for sustained, individualized coaching and engage in job-embedded learning aligned with the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders. Rather than treating theory and practice as separate, the program asks leaders to apply what they’re learning directly in their current roles. To register or for more information, please contact Fal Asrani.

National School Leadership Certification, a six-module certificate program, aligned with the National Standards known as the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders, is delivered through individual four-hour sessions. Modules cover building professional learning cultures, designing student-focused environments, promoting shared vision, community engagement, ethical leadership and political leadership. The program equips participants to lead equitable, effective school systems and advocate for strong education policy. The content covers all aspects of the administrators role and will serve not just as an opportunity to learn but also for veteran administrators to polish and finesse their knowledge and skills while collaborating with peers across the nation. The National Certification is available to educators across the country and cohorts will be expanded by region in the next few months. Participants will earn a Leadership badge after completion of each session and a Certificate upon completion of the whole program.  To register or for more information, please contact Fal Asrani.

School Leadership Academy, the 15-month CTC accredited Preliminary Administrative Credential program, continues to be in high demand for Pk-12 schools in California. Recognizing the urgency in filling administrative gaps, in 2025, the Office of Professional Learning designed and implemented the USC Rossier Leadership Pipeline Development program, a direct partnership to help  districts move away from reactive hiring by identifying and developing high-potential educators from within. Based on the research by Wallace Foundation, this model allows school districts to form their own cohort of future administrators who understand the culture and the needs of the community they serve. Additionally, the district leadership is able to work with the program administrator to impact the learning and preparation of these candidates by embedding each district’s strategic priorities and local challenges into the course discussions.  Currently the district has active partnerships with Torrance Unified and Newport Mesa Unified, with three more being finalized for the Spring session, with several more for the Fall of 2027.  To register or for more information, please contact Fal Asrani.
