USC Rossier extends partnership with 2U
Contract for four online programs now runs through 2030
The USC Rossier School of Education has agreed to extend its contract with 2U, the education technology company that maintains the platform for the school’s online Master of Arts in Teaching program.
Initial partnership with 2U began in 2009, and since that launch, the program has prepared nearly 3,000 teachers. While original terms would have kept 2U as a partner through 2018, this new contract will extend that agreement through 2030.
“We have settled on a historic contract that brings much needed clarity to all of our programs,” Dean Karen Gallagher said. “Our new terms will allow us to move forward with greater optimism and freedom.”
Under terms of the new agreement, USC Rossier’s partnership with 2U will continue for four online programs: Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), the MAT-TESOL, and the EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership (OCL). Pending university and accreditor approval, the agreement will also add a new option for a Master of Education in School Counseling. The target date for launch of that program has yet to be determined.
In addition, the new contract provides $250,000 in funding for student advisers for the OCL program, which will help free up time for current advisers working on both the online and on-ground programs.
“As 2U’s first partner, USC Rossier helped to build this company,” said Chip Paucek, 2U CEO and co-founder, in the company’s press release. “We’re pleased to extend this relationship, which will allow us to continue supporting their mission to improve learning in urban education locally, nationally and globally by using technology to scale and increase access to their programs.”
