Ruby Le MMFT ’14 set as Commencement student speaker
Ruby Le, who will receive her graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy on May 16 during Rossier’s commencement ceremonies, is the true embodiment of the phrase “great things come in small packages.”
This petite dynamo (“I’m exactly 5 feet tall!”) may have to stand on an apple crate to be seen behind the podium, but her voice and her message and her Trojan enthusiasm are towering. These qualities among many led Rossier to choose Ruby as the 2014 Student Speaker at this year’s commencement.
The San Diego native, whose parents immigrated from Vietnam, has not only excelled in her USC Rossier program, but has packed her “off hours” with enough volunteer work and internships to put her head and shoulders above most grad students.
In the last four years alone, she has assisted clients in need at Jewish Family Services, her San Diego State alma mater’s Consensus Organizing Center, Tariq Khamisa Foundation, Social Advocates for Youth, Young Champions dance organization, USC’s graduate registration department, Launch Education Group and the Richstone Family Center.
Ruby has deep affection for her Rossier family, and considers the faculty her “parents” and her fellow students her “siblings”. She knows her Rossier experience will be the catalyst for success for this self-proclaimed “little girl with a big heart and big dreams.”
