Credential Requirements

MAT Progressive Degree

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is completed in conjunction with preparation for a single subject or multiple subject preliminary California teaching credential. In order to be recommended for a teaching credential, you are required to satisfy a series of requirements established by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. MAT-TESOL Progressive Degree

The Master of Arts in Teaching – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MAT-TESOL) program credential track is optional. You can apply to the MAT-TESOL credential track during your first semester of the program between August and December. As a student on the MAT-TESOL credential track, you will complete your coursework in the program in conjunction with preparation for a English Language Development or World Languages California teaching credential. In order to be recommended for a teaching credential, you are required to satisfy a series of requirements established by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
