EDUC 437: Research in Teaching and Learning Mathematics (4 units)

Explore the characteristics of research in teaching and learning mathematics education and their impacts on curricula, instruction and learning.

EDUC 433: Elementary Mathematics for Teaching (4 units)

Dissect elementary mathematics curriculum in order to gain the deep understanding needed to be an effective teacher of elementary mathematics. Discuss the natures of mathematical cognition and argumentation and explore the cognitive hurdles pupils need to overcome to not only master elementary mathematics but leave elementary school in a position to build upon their knowledge.

EDUC 434: Secondary Mathematics for Teaching (4 units)

Dissect selected strands in secondary mathematics curriculum to gain the deep understanding needed to be an effective secondary mathematics teacher.
