Anamely Salgado is a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education. She is working with Dr. Stephen Aguilar, concentrating in educational psychology. Anamely is interested in investigating individual and institutional beliefs and practices that affect equitable education opportunities for immigrant youth and underrepresented students. Her work examines how presenting information on policies and issues of equitable education shapes people’s knowledge, attitudes and behavior. Drawing from social psychology, she seeks to understand the ways in which discrimination is displayed through students and instructors’ support of equitable education policies and how such discrimination is remediated by allies and insititutions.
Anamely graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Before joining the Rossier School of Education, she worked as a tutor for IDEA Public Schools. She assisted college counselors with college application revisions and submissions and tutored students in the areas of ACT and TSI testing.
