Vanessa Monterosa speaks at AAHHE conference

PhD student Vanessa Monterosa, a 2014 AAHHE Fellow, was an invited plenary session panelist at the 9th Annual American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education Conference in Costa Mesa, CA. AAHHE plenary sessions offer an opportunity to bring issues pertinent to Latina/o students, faculty, and administrators to the attention of the larger academic community. The plenary session, which was titled “America’s Future Workforce: Strategies for Reaching Audiences,” allowed Vanessa to engage in conversation with fellow plenary panelists Jim Estrada, CEO of Estrada Communications Group Inc., and Edgar Mejia, COO of EdConexion. It focused on 21st century methods of connecting and building community, so Vanessa discussed her research on community building through social media as an emerging scholar. The session was moderated by JoAnn Canales, PhD, Professor and Founding Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at Texas A & M University Corpus Christi.
