Yasemin Copur-Gencturk promoted to Professor of Education

Katzman/Ernst chair and nationally recognized scholar advances AI-powered innovations to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning.

Today, USC Rossier is proud to announce the promotion of Yasemin Copur-Gencturk to the rank of Professor of Education. Previously a tenured associate professor, her promotion was approved by the President of the University following the recommendation of the University Committee on Appointments, Promotion and Tenure.

“I am grateful to be part of a community that values innovation, collaboration and impact,” said Copur-Gencturk. “This affirms our shared commitment to supporting teachers with research-driven tools that can meaningfully improve learning for students.” Professor Copur-Gencturk also holds the Katzman/Ernst Chair in Educational Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation, an endowed position recognizing her leadership at the intersection of technology, teacher learning and equity in education.

A nationally recognized scholar, Copur-Gencturk’s work harnesses artificial intelligence to transform mathematics teacher development and instruction. Her currently funded research, totaling $9.4 million, aims to improve mathematics education through interdisciplinary research bridging AI, measurement, and teacher education.
