Today, USC Rossier is proud to announce the promotion of Huriya Jabbar to the rank of Professor of Education. Her promotion was approved by the President of the University following the recommendation of the University Committee on Appointments, Promotions and Tenure.

“I am honored to be part of USC Rossier’s scholarly community, which is deeply committed to equity, rigorous research and real-world impact,” said Professor Jabbar. “This promotion reflects the collaborative work of colleagues, mentors and students who share a commitment to expanding opportunity and equity in the education system.”

Jabbar, previously a tenured associate professor, is widely recognized for her scholarship on education policy, school leadership and equity. Her research has attracted significant external support, including a recent competitive grant from the Spencer Foundation to examine the emergence of culture wars in education, and their consequences for students, educators and school leaders.

“Huriya’s research speaks directly to the challenges facing education today,” said USC Rossier Dean Pedro Noguera. “Her promotion to professor recognizes her leadership, commitment to equity and contributions to shaping more just and effective education systems.”
