EdD student Trista Beard was quoted in an article in the March/April, 2014 edition of NAFSA International Educator titled, “What Takes U.S. Students to Korea?” She said that 20 percent of USC students who study in Korea are non-heritage students who choose to study business or language to make themselves more marketable. Although fewer USC students study abroad in Korea than go to China or Japan, Beard says that USC sees room for growth in its Korea program. She added that Korean schools are creating consortiums and programs that combine coursework with internships and that they are trying to break the “walls of separation” between study abroad students and local students.
