Yajaira S. Curiel, Ph.D., LMFT, received her doctorate in Couple and Family Therapy at Drexel University. Dr. Curiel’s clinical experience has focused on providing culturally attuned, high quality, individual, couple and family therapy to marginalized populations around the areas of trauma, connection, intimacy, loss and having meaningful, fulfilling relationships. Dr. Curiel has also worked extensively as a bilingual family therapist serving urban Latino populations.
Dr. Curiel’s research is focused on deconstructing the experiences of Manhood among Latino men and has presented at national and international conferences in the field of Family Therapy. She is the co-author of “Entre nosotros: Exploring Latino diversity in family therapy” and is committed to producing culturally attuned scholarly work that highlights the multifaceted life experiences of Latinos. Dr. Curiel’s career is focused on addressing social justice disparities with individuals, couples, families and larger systems. She is an AAMFT MFP alumnus and is the recipient of the American Family Therapy Academy’s Early Career Award.
