Anamely Salgado is a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education. She is working with Dr. Stephen Aguilar, concentrating in educational psychology. Anamely is interested in investigating the experiences of the immigrant youth and underrepresented students in urban schools and communities. Particularly, she hopes to examine individual and institutional beliefs and practices that affect equitable education opportunities for these students. Furthermore, she is interested in studying underpresented students’ motivations and initiatives to demand equity for themselves and others.
Anamely graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Before joining the Rossier School of Education, she worked as a tutor for IDEA Public Schools. She assisted college counselors with college application revisions and submissions and tutored students in the areas of ACT and TSI testing.
