Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS)

The Graduate and Professional Student Senate is the official voice of the graduate and professional student body. Elected officers, senators (department/school representatives), and special interest committees tackle issues specific to graduate and professional students and provide venues for interaction beyond the academic realm. Our funding comes from your programming fees, and we use this money to provide advocacy, social, academic, and community service events, and funding for student groups throughout the year.

Education Government Organization (EGO)

The Education Graduate Organization (EGO) was formed in 1968 as a forum for the exchange of student ideas and for the planning of student activities. All graduate students in Rossier School of Education are automatically members of the organization and are encouraged to participate in its activities and programs. Our goal is to promote research efforts of education students through reimbursements for conferences, and sponsor social activities for graduate students to come together, so they can make the most of their experience at USC.

The mission of EGO is to explore and promote academic issues and support a feeling of collegiality and community at the Rossier School of Education by assisting all students in every aspect of academic and social life at the University of Southern California.

Educators for Queer Alliance (EQuAl)

The graduate organization Educators for Queer Alliance was created in the Fall of 2008. EQuAl is a graduate organization for anyone interested in promoting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, and Intersexed (LGBTQI) awareness on campus and among fellow educators. We work alongside the LGBT Resource Center and other organizations on campus, including other LGBT graduate organizations, to promote this awareness.

Marriage and Family Therapy Student Organization (MFT-SO)

The Marriage and Family Therapy Student Organization (MFT-SO) was founded as way to bridge the gap between the first-year cohort, second-year cohort and third-year cohort. The organization strives to be four things-a social organization, a professional organization and a community organization and most importantly to have a great time with our fellow classmates.

On the social front, we plan get-togethers such as the one welcoming the incoming first-years in July, and two Christmas/holiday parties in December. As a professional organization, we hope to have speakers come and present, as well as attend conferences in the area to help advance our professional development, such as the upcoming AAMFT conference in Sacramento. As a community organization, we have participated in the USC Friends and Neighbors Day program helping a local organization clean and beautify their facilities by planting flowers and organization all their supplies.

MFT-SO strives for collaboration between the cohorts to plan many fun and exciting events for all to enjoy.

PASA Network

The PASA Network is a student run organization for the PASA program that works to promote the academic and professional development of graduate students in the field of postsecondary administration and student affairs. We also coordinate social networking opportunities aimed to develop connections between students within the program, program faculty and staff, alumni and prospective students.

School Counselors of Tomorrow (SCoT)

Created in the Spring of 2008 by five graduate students who recognized the need for more resources and better services for students in the school counseling program, SCoT (School Counselors of Tomorrow) is a student run organization that has quickly established itself as a vital resource for its constituents. Through its implementation of various networking and professional development events, SCoT continues to strengthen the "Trojan Family" network among current students and alumni and provide further educational opportunities for students beyond the classroom. In addition, SCoT advocates for current school counseling students within the Rossier School of Education and promotes K- 12 academic achievement through community outreach efforts. SCoT members are actively learning from the counselors of today, while preparing to be the counselors of tomorrow.

Students Transforming the Education Process (STEP)

STEP or Students Transforming the Educational Process is an organization formed in the 2008 spring semester by students in the Educational Psychology/Instructional Technology M.Ed program at USC. It arose out of the need for a social outlet for EDPT students who already had tendency to gather informally. Past events have included bowling, group volunteering, ski retreats, happy hours, and much more. STEP also has a heavily involved alumni network that is rapidly growing.

TESOL/TEFL Society

We are a student-run organization for everyone who is interested in teaching English. Our goals are: to promote social and intellectual interaction and intercultural exchange among students and faculty interested in the Teaching English to the Speakers of Other Languages and Teaching of English as a Second or Foreign Language; to share and discuss information about common academic and professional interests; and to serve members and non-members as students-center organization both academically and socially.
