New Student Packet
The M.S. programs
student handbook has been developed to introduce you to the policies, procedures, and requirements of graduate study at the University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education. We hope it is a helpful guide as you navigate through the various sources of information regarding graduate life at USC.
Request Transfer Credit
The following guidelines describe the process students should use when requesting transfer credit. Please note that transfer credit is not automatic. Transfers must be approved by faculty and administration in order to make sure transfer curriculum is inline with program of study.
Limited Status Documents
Protocol for Limited Status Students/Staff
Limited status enrollment allows persons who have not been admitted to the university to take a limited number of courses at USC.
Limited Status Registration
This document explains the process for taking courses as a Limited Status Student within Rossier.
Petitions
Waiver/Substitution Request
A maximum of 25% of the stated degree course requirements (exclusive of 593 Master's Seminar and 594 Master's Thesis) may be approved for waiver or substitution by other USC course work, directed research, or transfer coursework. Waiver or substitution of a course requirement does not reduce the minimum number of units required for the degree.
General Petition
This form is used for Time Extensions of Degree, Leave of Absence, and other petitions processed through the graduate school.

Although there is room for flexibility within the program of study, students are highly encouraged to follow the curriculum as set below (Any changes must be approved by Faculty and Program Advisor):
