The Office for Professional Development offers certificate and credential programs as well as customized professional development for teachers, leaders and administrators in K-12, offices of education and school districts.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Certificate Program
USC Rossier’s DEI certificate program provides participants with the knowledge and skills to advance diversity, equity & inclusion. Participants go on to disrupt systems that hinder well-being, positive engagement, and achievement in their school environments.
Mindfulness for Educators Certificate Program
In the Mindfulness for Educators certificate program, TK-12 and higher education professionals will practice meditation together and learn mindfulness techniques they can directly apply to their lives and the classroom. This course is designed for both beginning meditators and those with experience who want to refine their practice.
School Business Management
The School Business Management Program: Thinking Like a CBO takes you through an 11-month experience that engages participants through a scenario-based learning model that is continuously updated based on the ever-changing landscape in K-12 education.
AASA-USC Urban Superintendents Academy
The USC Rossier School of Education is pleased to provide this innovative program designed to develop the leaders for our nation’s most complex school districts: the urban district.
Summer Gifted Institute
The Summer Gifted Institute is an annual event led by Dr. Sandra Kaplan and a team of faculty members experienced in gifted education, instruction, and curriculum design. This institute is for and provides current K-12 teachers with newly designed differentiated curriculum units responsive to identifying students of diversity and challenging advanced and gifted learners. Note: Does not offer a certificate.
School Leadership Academy
Successful completion in the School Leadership Academy qualifies participants to receive the Preliminary Administrative Credential issued by the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). This fully online program is led by seasoned school administrators who will guide you throughout the 15-month program in real time and support you in your flex-time work as well.
Equity Educators
The Equity Educators Certificate program is a suite of four courses that was created and designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to successfully meeting the Common Core State Standards while creating equitable achievement opportunities for all students.
Reading and Literacy Added Authorization
The USC Reading and Literacy Added Authorization program designed to equip you with the skills and competencies to prepare you as a literacy expert. You will learn to identify readers’ needs using diagnostic assessments and will design comprehensive instructional plans to re-mediate your literacy instruction.
Leadership in Enrollment Management
The Leadership in Enrollment Management certificate is designed for emerging and seasoned professionals in admissions, financial aid, institutional research, enrollment management and related fields. Individuals or campus teams who want to gain a leadership and managerial perspective are particularly well-suited for the program.
