Doctoral Degree Programs
Did you know? Doctoral degrees in education are not the same! USC Rossier School of Education offers two excellent doctoral degree programs. The PhD is research oriented whereas the EdD is directed towards educational practice and the application of theory and research. The EdD is equal in rigor, but different in substance from the PhD. The PhD program in Urban Education Policy welcomes applicants whose policy interests are aligned with the Rossier School’s mission to improve learning in urban education, locally, nationally, and globally and who plan to pursue careers as research scholars. Students in the program benefit from close interaction with a distinguished faculty, a collaborative research community, and a positive student culture.
The Educational Leadership EdD program equips practitioner-scholars with the skills needed to lead high-performing organizations, connect research with practice, and help all students to learn. The program is for full-time working professionals with a Master’s degree and at least 3 to 5 years of full-time work experience.
The online Organizational Change and Leadership EdD program is for current and emerging leaders looking to create and foster learning environments that drive systemic improvement across a range of organizations.
This Global Executive EdD program prepares leaders to achieve large-scale improvements across educational systems through strategic use of policy, innovative practice and assessment. The program stresses the examination of educational solutions from around the world as participants work with their own local challenges.
