USC Rossier School of Education offers two types of excellent doctoral degree programs. The PhD is research-oriented whereas the EdD is directed towards educational practice and the application of theory and research. The EdD, while equal in rigor, differs in substance from the PhD.
The Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (EDL) program equips practitioner-scholars with the skills needed to lead high-performing organizations, connect research with practice, and help all students to learn. The program is geared toward working professionals who aspire to be leaders in urban education.
The Global Executive EdD (Global EdD) program is designed for full-time working professionals around the world who have a Master’s degree and significant leadership experience. The program prepares senior educational leaders, policy makers, administrators, and change agents for the challenging task of improving individual and national education outcomes.
Urban Education Policy
The Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education Policy (PhD) program welcomes applicants whose policy interests align with the Rossier School’s mission and who plan to pursue careers as research scholars. Students gain the knowledge, professional network, and record of achievement necessary for success as faculty, research analysts, and policy-makers.
