Curriculum Vitae & Publications
An assistant professor of educational psychology and technology at the University of Southern California, Dr. Riconscente conducts research at the intersection of student learning and motivation, educational technology, and evidence-centered assessment design (ECD). She recently conducted the first controlled experimental study of an iPad learning app, and is currently collaborating with the GameDesk Institute to extend ECD principles and tools to the design of curricula that integrate game building and simulations with content-area learning and motivation across grades 6 through 12. Dr. Riconscente's background includes the design and implementation of innovations in technology to support an evidence-centered design approach to assessment, and the application of mixed methods to chart the status, causes, and developmental trajectories of students' subject-matter interest. Her prior work at the Coalition of Essential Schools, the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, and EDC's Center for Children and Technology included the design of software to support alternative assessments. She sits on the editorial board of Contemporary Educational Psychology and has served as a consultant to several organizations, including Scholastic Inc., The Carnegie Corporation of New York, UCLA's CRESST, the Brown University School of Medicine, and the US Department of Education. Her teaching responsibilities include graduate courses on academic motivation, learning theory, and educational statistics.
