Research Interest

College persistence and retention as it pertains to underserved students of color, developmental education, and institutions' responses to students' academic needs.

Maxine Roberts

Maxine Roberts is a research assistant with the Center for Urban Education and a PhD student through USC’s Rossier School of Education. Her interests lie in college retention, persistence, and success for underserved students and institutions' responses to students' needs. Prior to attending USC's Rossier School of Education, Maxine collaborated with colleagues to create the Institute for Leadership, Excellence, and Academic Development (I-LEAD), a college preparatory program at Bank Street College.  During her tenure with the program, Maxine served as an Academic Advisor and Assistant Director.  After I-LEAD merged with Bank Street College's Liberty Partnerships Program,  Maxine served as Director from 2009-2012.   

Maxine completed her Master's in Reading and Literacy Specialization at Bank Street College of Education in May 2006. She has a B.S. in Computer Science from Mount Holyoke College, and a degree in English Education from Columbia University's Teachers College.
