Adjunct Assistant Professor
Dr. Bruce Janousek is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program at the USC Rossier School of Education. In his five-year tenure at USC Rossier, he has taught classes in science and mathematics pedagogy with particular emphasis on the application of model-based inquiry in the secondary classroom.
In his 35-year career at The Aerospace Corporation, Janousek has held a variety of research, management, and staff positions. His research focused on the development of novel infrared focal plane materials and compound semiconductors for national security space applications. In addition, he spearheaded a campaign at Aerospace to connect the company’s scientists and engineers to local school districts to expose students to careers in the STEM disciplines. He currently serves on the staff of the CEO where his responsibilities include corporate strategic planning and the mentoring and development of early-career professionals.
Dr. Janousek also taught 4th grade science at a LAUSD elementary school for 2 years where he developed a curriculum which allowed him to apply his working knowledge of chemistry and physics to the classroom. He believes that Science and Math can be taught in such a way that students can develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts and a life-long interest in the subject and is committed to working with aspiring teachers to develop science and math literacy in all students and to inspire the next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.
Dr. Bruce Janousek received his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Stanford University.
