Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education Policy

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Urban Education Policy
The Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education Policy (PhD) prepares students to conduct and disseminate meaningful research in urban education policy.

Next program start date: August 21, 2017

Application Deadline December 1, 2016

Admissions Criteria

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Urban Education Policy program seeks both personal and disciplinary diversity in our student body. The ideal candidate combines well developed written and verbal communication skills with strong quantitative proficiency. These skills are represented by competitive GRE scores and a well-written Statement of Purpose.

Although we do not require an academic background in education, experience in the field is helpful. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree, and it is preferable to have a Master’s degree. Also, any previous experience in research is helpful.

Since students work closely on research with their advisor during the program, it is critical that applicants demonstrate research interests that are compatible with the Rossier School’s faculty. It is strongly recommended that applicants become familiar with the work of three to five PhD faculty members when applying.
