1. What is a CEU?
  • A CEU equates to 10 clock hours of course work. If a program awards 3 CEUs, then it means that there was 30 hours of activity.
  • CEUs are recognized nationwide as a standard measurement of an individual's continuing education activity.
  • CEUs serve as a permanent documentation of your professional development coursework.
  • CEUs are NOT Graduate or University course credits.
2. How does a graduate-level CEU equate to a graduate unit?
  • 3 CEUs are equivalent to 1 semester unit.
3. What are the benefits of CEUs?
  • CEUs are a means of documenting the amount of professional development hours and/or trainings that you have acquired.
  • CEU units are tied directly to the high quality workshops, conferences, seminars and certificate programs offered by the University of Southern California.
  • USC CEU credits are approved through the instruction, direction and evaluation by qualified University faculty members.
4. How do I request a CEU transcript?

If you took your course from the USC Rossier School:
  • Complete and submit the CEU registration form to Office of Professional Development Programs along with a check or credit card number.
  • You will receive your transcripts in the mail within ONE month (4 weeks) after your form has been submitted.
If you took your course from another USC department or affiliated organization (such as Vanguard, LACOE, CAG, USC China Institute):
  • Be in direct contact with your provider to request the form for CEUs. Your course provider must verify your successful completion of the program before we can process the CEU request.
  • You will receive your transcripts in the mail within ONE month (4 weeks) after your form has been submitted.
  • 5. How do I request past CEU transcript copies?
    • To request additional transcript copies for past courses, please email Gabriela Duncan at gaduncan@usc.edu or call 213-740-7737.
    • Please specify that you are requesting a NON-ACADEMIC CEU transcript.
    • There is an $10.00 fee for duplicate transcripts.
    6. How do CEU units transfer into LAUSD Salary Points?
    • The LAUSD School District equates 3 CEU credits to 1 salary point.

    • If you dont teach for LAUSD, please check with your local school district to find our how CEUs transfer into Salary Points.
