Master's Degree Programs

Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential Program (MAT/Teacher Education)
The MAT program prepares students to enter the teaching profession, and pursue careers as teachers in a variety of settings and educational levels. The curriculum reflects the Rossier School's focus on strengthening urban education, and includes supervised field experiences throughout the course of study. Students can complete a teaching credential and Master's degree in approximately thirteen months of full-time study. The program is offered in two delivery formats: On-campus and MAT@USC, a hybrid of online instruction and on-the-ground field experience at a school in a student's local area.

Master of Arts in Teaching - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MAT-TESOL)
This program will prepare students to enter the teaching profession and pursue careers as English language teaching specialists in a variety of settings and educational levels.

Master of Education, Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs (ME PASA)
Students in this two-year program will have the opportunity to develop an area of proficiency in Student Affairs, Academic Advising, or Athletic Administration.

Master of Education, Educational Counseling
The Master of Education in Education Counseling is designed for individuals seeking a career or advancement opportunities in postsecondary education as an academic or outreach counselor.

Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)
Program lasts two years and two summers and offers small classes that simulate the counseling environment. Practicum facilitates hands-on experience in the field. Option to add third year and pursue P.P.S. credential.

Master of Education, School Counseling (and Pupil Personnel Services Credential)
Two-year program preparing school counselors for K-12 urban school settings.

Master of Education in School Leadership
This anticipated two-year program will prepare experienced teachers for entry into administrative and leadership roles such as school principals, school heads, curriculum coordinators, deans, and lead teachers. An innovative curriculum and online platform will challenge students to critically examine contemporary issues confronting a variety of school types.
